Sentences in Awtukhovich case expected to be pronounced on May 6

Sentences in the trial of Mikalay Awtukhovich and others will be handed down on at 2:30 p.m. on May 6, Vyachaslaw Siwchyk, a civil society activist who attended Tuesday’s court session, told BelaPAN.

The case has been heard at the Supreme Court of Belarus since March 10. Mr. Awtukhovich, a 47-year-old businessman resident in Vawkavysk, Hrodna region, his associate Uladzimir Asipenka and a certain Alyaksandr Laryn face charges of “preparations for an act of terrorism” against Uladzimir Sawchanka, head of the Hrodna Regional Executive Committee, and Deputy Tax Minister Vasil Kamyanko.
