First group of CIS long-term election observers to leave for provinces on August 12
The first group of long-term election observers of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) are to leave for Belarus’ provinces on August 12 to familiarize themselves with the progress of the parliamentary campaign.
The CIS observation mission currently have 30 accredited members and is expected to eventually have 35 long-term and 300 short-term observers.
The mission has sent out letters to the central election commission, the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, asking them for information about discovered offenses and irregularities, prosecutions, and hearings of complaints.
The mission is expected to issue a statement on completion of its work. //
